HOLY-BASIL-TULSI

Holy Basil
(OYA TULSI species)

Holy basil originates from Nepal, India, and Australia, Family:Lamiaceae Genus: Ocimum.

Holy basil’s alias, Tulsi, means “incomparable” in Sanskrit, and has a long history of being revered as a sacred plant by people for more than 5,000 years. In Ayurveda, traditional Indian medicine, it is considered “the elixir of immortality”.
Holy basil has a strong aroma and spicy flavor. In Thailand, holy basil has long been known as a medicine, and there is a saying that if you eat its leaves every day, you will never need a doctor. It is also known as “the plant that keeps the Grim Reaper away”.

The strong aroma of holy basil stimulates the brain, boosts immune function, and promotes digestion. It is also an herb with stress-relieving and sweating effects. As a herbal tea, drinking one cup a day on a continuous basis can improve one’s constitution, such as daily stress care, cold-sensitivity, and cold prevention.

It is useful in herbal teas, stir-fries, and fried foods, as it does not lose its flavor when heated.

Beauty and Anti-Aging Effects

Recent years, the effects and benefits of Holy Basil on beauty and prevention of physical aging (anti-aging) have been attracting attention.

Antioxidant components such as eugenol, caryophyllene, and ursolic acid, the main ingredients, are said to inhibit the stress hormone cortisol and activate the rejuvenating hormone DHEA.

Oxidation is rust in the body. Just as iron becomes brittle and crumbles easily when rusted, the human body is said to be at higher risk of skin damage, deterioration of internal functions, lifestyle diseases, and arteriosclerosis. Therefore, in order to stay young, beautiful, and healthy, it is important to be conscious of “anti-oxidation” and continue to take antioxidants to fight oxidation.
